Oriental Belly Dance
Oriental belly dance has established a global reputation for adding sparkle and glamour to any event. Originating from locations around and near the Middle East, Asia Minor and the Balkans. Various rites of passage and ceremonies choose to include an oriental dance performance as a tradition.
Folkloric dances from the middles east and eastern Europe have significantly influenced modern oriental styles of dance. In todays modern oriental style many folkloric elements are still used with a modern twist. In most cases a performance will be presented entirely in oriental costuming. When there is two or more performers this can allow for costume changes, allowing for folkloric costumes to also be used.
As various tribes and nations moved around the region; dance, rhythm and culture interchanged. As the people moved north, south, east and west – so too do we move up, down, left and right. Each view point gives us a different perspective and understanding to explore…
